So today was the big day of my obstetrician appointment. After a painstaking 2 hour visit with Olivia in tow, it was decided that I needed to see a different doctor.
Apparently, the doctor I went to will not be in town around the time I will need a caesarean section (the 1st week of January), and so, there are two options.
1. A possible referral to a different obstetrician who will hopefully have time for me and my baby in January. (Complete with another ridiculously long appointment in an overcrowded and extremely warm waiting room with (hopefully) equally frustrating student doctors who know nothing.)
2. The baby is delivered on December 24 at only 37 weeks, which puts him at a heightened risk of respiratory distress due to underdeveloped lungs.
Anywho, the obstetrician is going to discuss these choices with the other doctors at the maternity clinic, and perhaps I shall find out more when I go there for my 3 hour appointment next week.
On the way home, Colin and I wondered if there have ever been any cases of "clinic waiting room rage" where people snap for no reason other than having to waste half their day at an overcrowded doctor office. I'm sure its happened a few times.
Regardless, I am still glad I live in Canada where it is all free!
But we shall see what happens...we may have a Christmas baby after all.
